Manual Removal Part 2 – Remove PhotoScape Leftovers
In most cases, uninstalling a program by default uninstaller only removes the main executive files of this program from the computer. You still need to manually detect and clean out its remaining files, folders and registry entries scattered around the system, so as to free up disk space and avoid an overweight registry. Try to search the directory for PhotoScape and delete all the files in the directory first.
1. Files/Folders in Hard Disk
- Click on Start > Control Panel > Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
- Tick Show hidden files and folders and uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended) in the Advanced settings.
- Click Apply and then OK in pop-up dialog boxes to save the changes.
- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\PhotoScape and delete this folder (if it still exists).
- Open File Explorer and input keyword(s) of target program in the search area.
- Go through and delete the matched items in the search results.
2.Keys/Values in Windows Registry
- (Right) click on the Start icon and then click on Search in the list.
- Type “regedit” in the box and press Enter key to activate Registry Editor.
- Click Find on the Edit menu in the Registry Editor.
- Type the keyword(s) of target program or its vendor’s name in the search box.
- Enter Find Next (and then hit F3) to locate and delete related keys or values.
Warning: as the registry is a database that stores crucial system configuration and settings, any improper modification may have negative impact on your system. This step is recommended only to the advanced computer users. As a precaution action, you’d better make a backup copy of the registry entries you gonna delete. If you are unsure which entries should be deleted, you can ask for the help of PC expert’s help, or turn to an advanced, handy uninstaller to do that job for you.
