Tutorials to Remove Maxthon on PC – Suggested Removal
The reason you should remove Maxthon is that this browser has been verified to be no longer safe. I do hope the tutorials I wrote today would give you great help.
Lately Exatel and Fidelis Cyber Security released a report saying the web browser Maxthon collects users’ confidential information and sends it to its own server through the User Experience Improvement Program (UEIP, which you can choose to join during the installation), and logout won’t revoke that.
Maxthon is not the only browser that analyzes users’ data through the UEIP, Firefox and Chrome also do. But according to Exatel and Fidelis, the information that Maxthon collects is far beyond the range.
More Details of Maxthon’s Information Collection
The information includes operating system version, screen resolution, CPU type and speed, memory, the executable location for the browser, ad-block status, homepage, browsing history, Google searching history, and apps that comes with the system and corresponding versions.
This data is stored in a file named “ueipdat.zip,” being termly transmitted to Maxthon’s server in China, according to Exatel. Within the ueipdat.zip, researchers discovered an encrypted file named “dat.txt” , which was supposed to be cracked by the passphrase “eu3o4[r04cml4eir,” is hard coded in Maxthon’s binary system.
Is this problem a vulnerability or intentional design? Maxthon hasn’t responded the inquiry from Exatel yet, but users have been denouncing the browser ever since. Though Maxthon said they will dedicate themselves to the investigation, you should remove Maxthon as soon as possible for the sake of your private information and system security.
