The Proper Way to Uninstall Mozilla Firefox, How to Remove Mozilla Firefox Completely
Mozilla Firefox is a popular web browser with open source developed by Mozilla Corporation, this browser is widely used by people all around the world. If you encountered errors in any version of this browser, you might need to uninstall it for the reinstallation, but please notice that, if you are not perform the removal in a right way or Firefox is not removed completely, you’ll probably not be able to reinstall it successfully. Here is the instruction of how to uninstall Mozilla Firefox properly
1.First if you may need to backup bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox if needed:
Go to the Bookmarks menu — Organize Bookmarks – click File — Export. (For Firefox 2)
Select ‘Organize Bookmarks’, then go to ‘Import and Backup’ click Export HTML (For Firefox 3)
2.Uninstall Mozilla Firefox through Control Panel
Step1: Close Firefox if it is open, otherwise the uninstall will not be succeeded.
Step2: Click Start Menu, select control penal, click Programs and Features.
(if you are running Windows 2000/XP, Double-click Add or Remove Programs in the control penal)
Step3: Locate and select Mozilla Firefox in the program list.
Step4: Click Uninstall at the top of the window.
(Windows 2000/XP, click the remove button on the right side of the window)
Step5: Follow the on-screen instruction to uninstall Mozilla Firefox
Step5: Wait for the uninstall finished, restart your computer.
3.Delete the below leftover folder if you found them on these location.
For Windows 2000/XP
\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla
\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla
In Windows Vista/7
\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Mozilla
\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\
4.Delete leftover registry entries:
You can open registry editor by going to start – run, then type in “Regedit” in the pop up box, and click OK, then navigate through the right hand registry key branch to find out the below values, right click on their name and select delete in the drop down menu.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\FirefoxHTML]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MozillaPlugins]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins]
